AFFILIATED EVENT: REMEMBERING JOHN DENVER: At 3 p.m. in The Palace Danbury on 165 Main Street in Danbury.听When Ted Vigil dons听 a classic cowboy hat and puts a guitar in hand, people do a double take!听With an uncanny resemblance and sound of the late John Denver, he creates one of the most accurate representations of any artist likely seen on stage.听
Denver was听an American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor, activist, and humanitarian. By 1974, he was firmly established as one of America鈥檚 best-selling performers and was among the most beloved entertainers of his era. He had four No. 1 hits and a slew of Top 10s that resulted in 14 gold and eight platinum albums. His 鈥淕reatest Hits鈥 album sold more than 10 million copies.听Tragically he died in听 1997 when the experimental plane he was piloting crashed in California.
25 years later, Ted Vigil is honored to pay homage to the man and his music. Vigil has been performing his John Denver tribute for nearly ten years, performing many of Denver鈥檚 best loved songs including 鈥淩ocky Mountain High,鈥 鈥淎nnie鈥檚 Song,鈥 鈥淪unshine on My Shoulder,鈥 Take Me Home Country Roads,鈥 and 鈥淭hank God I鈥檓 a Country Boy.鈥澨 He insists he is not an impersonator, but rather is singing tribute to this great man and the legacy of his beloved music.
