The event is organized by the National First Ladies’ Library & Museum.
This Women鈥檚 History Month, join us for a powerful Legacy Lecture featuring historian and performer Laura Keyes as she embodies Elizabeth Packard, a fierce advocate for women鈥檚 rights and mental health reform.
In 1860, Packard was unjustly committed to an asylum by her husband, a situation legally permitted at the time, and she endured three years of confinement. Despite these harrowing circumstances, Elizabeth Packard secured her release and launched a groundbreaking campaign for legal reform to protect married women from similar injustices.
Laura Keyes brings Elizabeth鈥檚 courage and passion to life in this unique, immersive presentation, capturing the spirit of a woman who fought tirelessly for justice.
