Special Cooking with the First Ladies

SPECIAL COOKING WITH THE FIRST LADIES: The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is promoting this event entitled Special Cooking with the First Ladies: Women鈥檚 History Month Program. The event is organized by the National First Ladies’ Library & Museum.
Step back in time to explore the unique stories of the women of the Manhattan Project, including the Calutron Girls, who worked in the 鈥淪ecret City鈥 of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with no knowledge of the impact they would have on World War II. This Women鈥檚 History Month program will shine a spotlight on these women鈥檚 contributions, complemented by insights into First Ladies Eleanor Roosevelt and Bess Truman, who helped guide the nation during this pivotal era. Participants will receive exclusive recipes from the wartime Oak Ridge cookbook Cooking Behind The Fence and a few favorites from the First Ladies of the 1940s.
Sarah Morgan, a historian with a passion for culinary history, will lead this engaging event. Known for her 鈥淐ooking with the First Ladies鈥 content, Sarah brings history to life through the dishes of America鈥檚 past. Don鈥檛 miss this special session filled with stories of resilience, patriotism, and recipes that fueled a generation.
