Athletic Training (~35-45 credits of science/math/exercise science courses)
A Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program prepares students to become a certified athletic trainer. Athletic trainers are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide a range of services related to injury and illness prevention, emergency care, diagnosis, and rehabilitation with athletes. The MSAT is typically a 2-year program that includes both classroom instruction and clinical experiences.
The following courses will satisfy the pre-requisites forÌýmostÌýMaster of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) programs.Ìý It is important for students to determine the specific requirements for each MSAT program they wish to apply to, in consultation with a pre-health advisor.ÌýMost MAT programs require the following courses:

The ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ Health Promotion and Exercise Sciences (HPX) department has an on-going articulation agreement with Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), whereby students majoring in the BS in Public Health degree with the Fitness and Wellness option can spend 3 years at ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ and then 3 years at CCSU to achieve the BS in Public Health from ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ and the MSAT from CCSU. We also have an agreement with Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) where students completing the BS in Public Health, Fitness and Wellness option, at ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ who meet specific requirements can gain automatic admission to the MSAT at SCSU. Other Requirements:
Students who intend to apply to athletic training graduate programs should take the GRE (graduate record examination) prior to applying.ÌýThe GRE measures three areas in verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing.
Grades:
Most athletic training graduate programs require a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered.
