Mary Ann Lamb – Adjunct Professor (Dance Combination, Dance for Musical Theatre)

Mary Ann LambÌý(Adjunct Professor)Ìýwas the assistant choreographer for Susan Misner and assistant choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler on the hit television series FXÌýFosse/Verdon. She also coached dance for the stars Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams.ÌýSheÌýjust also wasÌýworking on the Netflix series Halston doing preproduction with Choreographer Susan Misner. She is part of the Fose/Verdon Legacy and teaches master classes for Steps,ÌýPeridanceÌýand Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She choreographedÌýMammaÌýMiaÌýdirected by Terrence Mann at Connecticut Repertory Theatre.ÌýRecently, sheÌýchoreographed the showÌýDisasterÌýfor Connecticut Repertory Theater with Broadway director Jack Plotnick and star Seth Rudetsky. She also danced on the VMA Awards in 2019 with Taylor Swift in the opening number.
Prior to that she choreographed the award-winning production ofÌýEvitaÌýat ³Ô¹ÏÍ·ÌõÌýreceiving the Distinguished Choreography Award from The Kennedy Center American College Theater Awards. In that same season she choreographedÌýVioletÌýforÌý³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ. Mary Ann also choreographed the concertÌýTales of Love forÌýthe not-for profit arts organization Love/Art /Play. She teaches musical theater/modern as an adjunct professor for ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ. NYU and HartÌýUniversity as an adjunct. Mary Ann choreographed (with Lisa Gadja)ÌýGypsyÌýwith Harbor Lights Productions andÌýA Nightingale SangÌýat Westport Playhouse. She was Associate Choreographer for Susan Misner and Jonathon Bernstein’s,ÌýThe Shape She MakesÌýat ART Theater in Cambridge, and for JoAnn Hunter on Barry Manilow’sÌýHarmonyÌýandÌýOliverÌýat the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.
As a performer Mary Ann hasÌýperformed in 11 Broadway shows.ÌýShe’sÌýplayed Young Claire inÌýJohn KanderÌýandÌýFredÌýEbb’s,ÌýThe Visit, starringÌýChita Rivera.ÌýSheÌýdancedÌýin the filmsÌýRock of AgesÌýand the Oscar award winning movieÌýChicago. On Broadway she played Mona Page inÌýCurtainsÌýstarringÌýDavid Hyde PierceÌýand in the Paper Mill Playhouse production ofÌýCurtains, choreographed by JoAnn Hunter. In addition to Broadway, Mary Ann has danced in eight productionsÌýatÌýNew York’s City Center in the prestigiousÌý‘EncoreÌýseries. She has played the lead role of Anna in the York Theater’s off-Broadway presentation ofÌýNew Girl in Town; Lola in Sacramento Music Circus’s production ofÌýDamn Yankees; andÌýCerraineÌýat Boston’s Huntington Theater inÌýLadyÌýFromÌýMaxims.ÌýÌýShe has danced in a variety of television roles, commercials, and films: Among these are the Oscar Award-winning film,ÌýChicago;Ìýalso,ÌýRock of Ages;ÌýThe In Crowd;ÌýPortrait of aÌýShowgirl;ÌýAs the World Turns;Ìýand this fall she was honored to dance withÌýThe MuppetsÌýin their latest adventure film,ÌýLetters to Santa. Mary Ann’s extensive dance career is on display in aÌýPBS documentaryÌýtitled,ÌýWorking Dancers II.
Her vision of dance is shaped from working with the following choreographers and directors:ÌýJerome Robbins,ÌýGraciellaÌýDaniel,ÌýGwen Verdon,ÌýAnn Reinking,ÌýKathleenÌýMarshal,ÌýSusan Stroman, andÌýRob Marshal.ÌýThese luminaries of the theater in addition to many others have inspired Mary Ann to pass on her artistic passion to others where she hasÌýtaught dance all over the world in universities and master classes, and she is on the faculty ofÌýShowstopperÌýConventions. Mary AnnÌýhas taught at several of the top universities includingÌýNYU, Penn State,ÌýandÌýJulliard. She also teaches and choreographs forÌýFineLine Theater ArtsÌýwithÌýScott WiseÌýandÌýElizabeth Parkinson.
In the summer, Mary Ann is part of the dance faculty for three prestigious summer theater camps:ÌýThe Performing Arts ProjectÌýat Wake Forest University,ÌýTriple Arts, and theÌýMarthas Vineyard Musical Theater Summer WorkshopÌýand NCSA Summer Intensive.
