Oliver Wason – Assistant Professor, Coordinator of BFA Design/Technology

Oliver WasonÌý(Design/Technology Coordinator, Assistant Professor, Lighting Design, Design Fundamentals, Technical Theatre) is a designer and educator who is equally at home working in theater, opera, dance, music, or anything in between.

New York work includesÌýLet’s Call Her PattyÌý(LCT3 – Lincoln Center Theatre),ÌýONCE UPON A [korean] TIME, The Chinese Lady, Among the Dead, House RulesÌý(Ma-Yi Theatre Company);ÌýThe PenÌý(Inner Voices),ÌýSagittarius PonderosaÌý(NAATCO);ÌýWonderlandÌý(Atlantic).

Oliver’s work in opera includes numerous productions with Heartbeat Opera, where he is an associate artist, includingÌýButterfly, Carmen, Lucia di Lammermoor, Lady M, Kafka Fragments,Ìýand their recent production ofÌýFidelioÌýat Met Live Arts which toured nationally. Other opera work includesÌýEmpty the HouseÌý(Curtis Opera);ÌýErismenaÌý(Yale Baroque Opera);ÌýAgrippinaÌý(Juilliard Opera)

Regional credits include shows at Signature Theatre, Indiana Rep, Barrington Stage, Berkeley Rep, Yale Rep, Berkshire Theater Festival, Playmakers Rep, and Triad Stage.

Oliver was the associate designer forÌýA Doll’s House, Part 2Ìýon Broadway, and designed the Chinese Premiere ofÌýStones in His PocketsÌýat the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center. ÌýPrior to ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ, Oliver taught for six years at Northeastern University in Boston. He has a BA from CUNY Hunter College and an MFA from Yale School of Drama.
